Stafford Dolls House Fair 13th September 2009

This well established show is run by Doreen Jeffries and can be found at The Members Pavilion, County Showground, Weston Road, Stafford ST18 0BD. This is always a very busy fair with a great atmosphere and a real buzz around the two rooms! With over 90 stands there really is something for everyone.

The next stafford show will be taking place on January the 10th, 2010. So plenty of time to make plans to come and visit this fantastic event and a great excuse to spend some of that christmas money!

Doreen is very friendly and really knows how to run a great show, she also runs the well known and oldest dolls house show, which she established in 1982, the twice yearly Pudsey fair - for more details please visit her website at http://www.doreenjeffriesdollshousefairs.co.uk/index.php

Well, we had a great day and we shared it with quite a few D-A-M-E members! This time we remembered to take our camera, along with all the other bits and pieces we needed. We had our usual spot next to Helena of Solway Miniatures and she was next to another D-A-M-E member Lois of Mollies Exclusive Designs, so we had lots of fun and sales were good too!

Here are some pictures of all the D-A-M-E members stands - thanks to Aidy for taking them all ;o)

Miniatura

We had a fantastic response to our stand and we could have sold out if we had been a sales table! Lots of people had already seen the D-A-M-E website http://d-a-m-e.com/ before the show so it was nice to see what they thought of our wonderful group.
A huge thank you has to go to Beverley Read and her cousin Eileen for manning the stand all day. Also thanks to Roz for organising the promotional items, sign and bringing every ones items to the show and Helena for making the stand and bringing the cloth lol!
It was a group effort and lots of our members sent items and helped to make a display we could be really proud of so a huge thank you to each and every one.
It was lovely at the end of the day when Andy Hopwood told us D-A-M-E was an asset to the show, it really made all the hard work and effort involved worthwhile. Again a huge thank you to Andy and all the Miniatura team for their continued support.
We recently had this email from Miniatura with permission to use it on our website, we thought you may be interested to see what they think of our group...
As organisers of Miniatura we are always keen to encourage new makers into the hobby, after all many of the people who 'have a go' today are the artists of tomorrow. Organisations like D.A.M.E. are aspirational without being exclusive. This strikes a good balance, getting new makers to try their hand, have somewhere to show and get feedback whilst still striving for high quality across the board. This approach is very much in accordance with Miniatura's attitude and we are delighted to offer space to D.A.M.E. to display the work of existing members and encourage new ones.
You will see D.A.M.E. at all Miniatura shows:
Saturday 13th June 2009 - Murrayfield Stadium, Murrayfield, Edinburgh
October 3rd & 4th 2009 - NEC, Birmingham
March 27th & 28th 2010 - NEC, Birmingham

A huge thank you to all who have taken the time to send items or work on organising the event. We would also again like to thank Andy Hopwood and the Miniatura team who have been not only helpful, but also very supportive. http://www.miniatura.co.uk/
We have also been offered a Miniatura stand at the Autumn and Spring shows in Birmingham so if you can't make the Scottish one, maybe you can come and say hello at one of these events.

D-A-M-E is a wonderful group to be involved with and we wanted to share a little part of our group with you!

We are open to anyone who loves all things miniature be they professional artists or enthusiast members. Currently we have lots of branches of our group in order to promote the fabulous work of each member but also to publicise the miniature hobby.

We are going from strength to strength and just recently had a wonderful time at miniatura where we had our own group stand. All members who attended the show had a great time and those who had to stay at home got to see all the pictures and hear all the tales!

We have had a wonderful response to our group from fair organisers, magazines and the public. We have added a new social network site which is free to join and have since gained some new members from as far away as Canada ;o)

Our enthusiast members love to share their collections and become inspired by all the new miniatures they get to see, often before anyone else sees them! Most of the time we get to see each others work before it even goes on sale...a great way to be the first in the queue to get that item you just need to own!

Novice members are often encouraged to take a leap into making their own items with lots of tips, hints and advice on hand to help them along the way!

We are a very friendly and supportive group and are always happy and willing to help and encourage other members. We all love our daily fix on the forum the only problem is...we spend hours chatting and not enough time working!
